Training
The Brigade conducts regular training sessions on:
- Sundays between 0900 and 1200 (9.00 a.m. and 12.00 midday)
- Tuesdays between 1930 and 2130 (7.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.)
All firefighters in the brigade undergo a course of practical and theoretical
knowledge and skills to ensure that they are competent in knowing the equipment
that is on each vehicle, when to use that equipment and how to use it
efficiently and effectively. The course is conducted over a few months and is
presented by brigade officers and members. This mentoring approach assists
recruits to be recognized as part of a valued team.
It is only after a recruit can demonstrate appropriate competencies with
these minimum (essential) skills that she or he will be approved to take an
active part in turning out to emergency calls.
