FIRE READY VICTORIA PROGRAM – 2009

The South Warrandyte Fire Brigade will conduct a series of resident meetings throughout the brigade’s fire district during November 2009.

The purpose of the meeting is to ensure that residents have a clear understanding of the potential for wildfire to impact on their neighbourhood and then to assist residents to better understand the need to plan and prepare in order to survive.

In addition to CFA personnel, representative from MFB, Victoria Police, local municipalities and Parks Victoria will be inattendance.

Five meetings will be held at different venues throughout the brigade fire district. Each meeting will include a short presentation by the CFA, Victoria Police and Municipal Fire prevention Officer. The brigade will conduct a simulated wild fire event in the area during the evening and will emphasise the practical realities of what might happen should wild fire impact the area.

Residents will have ample opportunity to ask questions of any of the agencies in attendance. The purpose in conducting several meetings is to provide residents with the opportunity to raise those local issues with all the responsible agencies present.

Information packs including a brigade produced CD/DVD will be available at each meeting.

Each meeting commences at 7:00 pm and there is no charge.
